2020-2021 Annual Report
We can imagine the challenges our district families faced this past year and know everyone continues wearing a multitude of hats. We applaud your strength and thank you for your continued support for your children, the teachers, staff and administrators in D101. Hats off to D101 for their efforts during this past school year!
This year The Foundation continued its commitment of partnering with D101 to provide educational excellence to our students. The WSFEE Board approved three grants totaling over $40,000 during the 2020-21 school year, positively impacting D101’s more than 1,400 students.
We partnered with the district to rent heaters for the outdoor tents. The heaters extended the usage of the tents during cooler weather. The outdoor tents provided much needed additional teaching and collaboration spaces for our teachers and students.
Fact Fluency Toolkit
We approved the math instructional team’s grant to fund a Number Sense Development Toolkit. This Fact Fluency Toolkit will serve as an excellent enhancement to our district fact fluency curriculum. The toolkit contains seven strategies that are taught through real world contexts and supported by games, engaging tasks, constructivist conversation, and inquiry based activities. We believe the toolkit materials will enhance what we presently do in classrooms in deep meaningful ways. The 1st & 2nd Grade team will pilot the program with future plans to extend to additional grades.
Open Books, Open Minds, Open Doors
We are also excited to fund a collaboration between a district parent, school administrators, and school librarians. The grant, Open Books, Open Minds, Open Doors seeks to complement the current library collections held at D101 elementary schools with contemporary children’s literature published in the last 7-10 years, to increase student and teacher access to texts that reflect the current landscape of diversity and lived experiences for children. We increased the initial grant proposal to extend to all four D101 schools.
We were unable to host our 2020 Spring Fundraiser. This biannual event has typically raised over $150,000. Instead, this fall we solicited individual family donations.. Through your generous donations, we raised $60,000.
We were happy to conclude the year with our biannual Golf, Tennis, & Pickleball Outing at Ruth Lake Country Club. We were able to add Pickleball to the event this year as well! Thanks to our generous sponsors and participants, the event raised over $35,000.
Thank you once again to our administrators, teachers, staff, parents and students for making the 2020-2021 school year possible and such a success.
